As a half Chinese and half American woman I set forth on a journey to find a product which would suit my distinct needs. After some research I came across the Viori Shampoo Bars. As a bi-racial individual I have a distinct hair texture which needs special care. My overall experience after three (3) months of using this product has been enlightening.

The unique design of the shampoo bars resemble the traditional Chinese mooncake which really enforces this company's mission statement to emphasize the importance of cultural preservation. The marketing really helped me feel like this was going to be a product that would work for my hair texture. The quality of the packaging as well as the textures of the product makes for a really elegant experience right off the bat. Personally I was slightly disappointed by the appearance because when I opened the origami wrapping surrounding the shampoo bar, I noticed the top had been worn down a bit and did not look like it was handled carefully. The citrus yao conditioner bar was in perfect condition and really reflected a handcrafted marksmanship. The bamboo bar holder was slightly discolored in certain areas, but overall was still a great quality item. The intricate designs on the bamboo comb makes this a perfect gift. If you experience a lot of static when brushing your hair with a common plastic comb then you might want to switch to this bamboo comb. When I originally started looking at the different scents Viori offers I found their product names were very vague or didn't describe them well. Without being able to go in person to test these scents I chose the Citrus Yao product because it seemed like the most descriptive. The citrus scent is very light which can be best described as a soft orange scent. The body wash soap bar "serenity" smells sweet, but also smells a lot like cardboard or rice. At first this isn't the best scent, but after using it daily I enjoy how unique it is. The scent is long lasting.

My primary needs when I sought out to find a new haircare product were:
Find a product without harmful chemicals
Decrease oily sensation.
As someone who washes their hair everyday I knew I needed a product that wasn't going to strip my hair of it's natural oils every time I used it. Before using Viori I found myself trying to overcompensate on the amount of soap that I was using as an attempt to fix the issues I was having with my hair. Once I started using the shampoo bar I noticed that I was using a lot less soap. I think the best way to use this product is to begin by wetting your hair, then move the shampoo bar in a circular motion across the wet hair. When finished place bar back into bamboo holder and continue lathering with hands. This is the process I used because once there is contact with water the bar starts to create a large amount of bubbles which can be spread throughout the desired area. After you're done using the shampoo bar your hair will feel dry. I have attempted to skip using the conditioning bar and my hair ended up feeling very rubbery which lead to it getting knotted up pretty easily. The best suggestion I have is to follow the use of the shampoo bar with the conditioner bar in the same manner. Upon first application of the conditioner bar I noticed how silky smooth my hair felt. The results of this product are almost immediate. I have a substantially less amount of hair shedding and it feels very lightweight throughout the day. After using these products I noticed that it is very hard for the oils from my hands to transfer to my hair throughout the day. This means that my problem with oily hair has been SOLVED. I no longer need to worry about tying my hair in a bun after a long day at work.

If you are experiencing problems with oily hair from over washing and your hair texture is straight, wavy or curly you can benefit from this shampoo bar. If your hair has been feeling dry or dull Viori's shampoo and conditioner bar will surely restore any shine that was lost from the harmful chemicals used in other products. If you notice a lot of shedding then it is time to switch to Viori.

The shampoo and conditioner bars at Viori are free from harmful chemicals such as phthalates, parabanes and sulfate. This means this product will not interfere with the natural endocrine system of the body. The biggest organ on a human body is the epidermis and it is extremely susceptible to soaking in the chemicals that we use topically. On a hormonal level it is necessary to use this product for 3.5 months to truly see a change in your body. The results are immediate when it comes to seeing the results of the hair texture after 2 uses.

Aesthetic and Appearance: The Viori Shampoo and Conditioner Bars had a nearly perfect exterior packaging. The black and gold boxes make the experience feel very elegant. The marketing which includes supporting cultural preservation in terms of pressing the Shampoo Bars in the shape of mooncakes successfully embraces the culture of the Red Yao tribe. Although I received a slightly damaged Shampoo Bar, I was still please with the overall design. If you primarily use the back of the bar during every wash you will be able to maintain the overall mooncake design for months.

Problem Solving Abilities: Before I started using this product my needs were to find a haircare product that would reduce shedding, dandruff, oil and grease while maintaining volume. After the first few uses I noticed a big change in the heaviness of my hair. After a month of use I started to notice the intense shine my hair now has. I live in a humid climate and this product helps keep my hair soft and easily maintained. I never have a problem with frizz or tangles especially now that I only use the bamboo comb. I believe these products would benefit others with curly hair style types. I do not have color treated hair, but I can attest to the gentleness of the product. I believe that this would not damage the color and would be most beneficial to bleached hair. As someone who already has a lot of volume in her hair I believe that this product maintained it well by reducing the oily texture I had. This change resulted in my hair feeling lighter and flowing more freely. I did notice that the Citrus Yao scent might have contributed to the lighter tones in my hair becoming more vibrant. I would say that the orange scents have some lightening features. I did not notice a large change in the reduction of dandruff, but there was definitely a decrease. This could very well be due to the habit of washing my hair everyday.

Durability: The overall scent of the product is soft and transfers well. After months of use the scent is still as strong as it was during the first use and the scent has not disappeared. If you are looking for a product that will leave your hair continuously smelling like shampoo throughout the day then this is not a product that will meet your needs. The scent is light enough to be noticeable by the wearer, but not overbearing enough to clash with a perfume. When used properly the Viori Shampoo and Conditioner bars can sustain its use and continue to hold the original form, but there is a lot of upkeep to keep in mind. It is important to purchase 2 bamboo holders one for the large shampoo bar and the other for the conditioner bar. Both will not fit inside one container at the same time. The conditioner bar's shape will not match well with the rounded bamboo holder until repeated use of about 1 month. Without the bamboo holders the bars will not last as long as they should. These should be stored in a section that does not get direct contact with water. If left in the bamboo holder there is no need to worry that the bar will misshapen due to repeated showers at a warmer temperature. Contact with water is the only reason for wearing down the bars at a faster rate. The conditioner bar is very soft and does not last as long as the shampoo bar. Eventually at 3.5 months the conditioner bar will break into pieces due to the soft consistency. This result was caused due to not being kept in another bamboo holder.

This was not the case because the materials that make up this soap bar seems to be different from the other bars. This bar leaves a rough and rubbery feeling on your skin after use. This product is something that I believe is worth transitioning to. At first I was a little weary about using a bar of shampoo and conditioner because traditional liquid soaps seem to last so much longer for their price. When I factored in the health benefits I received from these all natural bars I came to the conclusion that this was worth the price. Overall I really enjoy the points and rewards system that this company has to offer and I believe that their mission statement is truly a cause to support.
